The Curriculum:

  • Drs. Talis and Opler will set the framework and objectives for the course. Participants will introduce themselves to like-minded colleagues and reflect on individual goals for learning.

  • Participants will learn Dr. Opler’s ARISE framework and master the goals of supportive psychotherapy training.

  • Dr. Talis will cover the fundamentals of mindfulness and connect them with psychodynamic principles for clarifying and strengthening the therapeutic alliance.

  • Dr. Opler will teach participants how to use keystone techniques derived from cognitive behavioral therapy.

  • Drs. Opler and Talis will review the fundamentals of motivational interviewing. Participants will learn how to facilitate meaningful change in their patient’s lives.

  • Dr. Opler will present techniques derived from psychodynamic modalities to help learners monitor the therapeutic process simply and practically.
